Introducing Majorca

The Balearics' largest island pairs the dramatic Serra de Tramuntana with sheltered family beaches and a buzzing capital in Palma.

Majorca is one of the easiest holiday escapes from the UK, with short flights and plenty of variety for its size. In the north-west, the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape, hides stone villages such as Deià and Fornalutx, terraced olive groves and winding coastal roads.

Head north and the wide, shallow bays of Pollença and Alcúdia are made for families. In the south-east, pine-fringed calas and the Mondragó natural park reward slower days. Wherever you stay, Palma's old town, cathedral and food markets are rarely more than an hour away.
